Huawei Appointed Baker Zhou As CEO Of Malaysia

Huawei has appointed Baker Zhou as its new chief executive officer. It will be responsible for Huawei's strategic growth, operations and overall development in Malaysia.

Zhou Xin joined Huawei in 1999 as Account Manager. Before becoming CEO of Malaysia, he had over 18 years of experience in the ICT industry and held several senior positions in the company including Vice President Huawei Indonesia, CEO of Bangladesh, Vice President of Carrier Operations Southeast Asia, and Human Resources Director Southeast Asia.

In August last year, the world's leading provider of ICT solutions named James Wu a new Southeast Asia president.

Since entering the Malay market in 2001, Huawei has expanded its workforce to more than 2,500 people, serving about 80% of the country's population. The company is currently working closely with local telecom partners to deploy high-speed broadband and 3G / 4G mobile networks in Malaysia. Its smartphones have also become the darlings of local high-end gear.

Meanwhile, as an enabler of digital transformation, Huawei aims to provide cutting-edge ICT solutions to industries in Malaysia, such as energy, transportation, and smart cities.

In addition, it will build a new OpenLab in Malaysia as a platform for open, flexible and secure collaboration with local partners to create a customer-centric solution for digital transformation. Huawei has expanded its cooperation in such fields as innovation, personnel, cybersecurity, research and smart campus with SMEs in Malaysia, University of Bassa, Terengganu State Government and Malaysian cybersecurity company.

Zhou Xin outlined his future vision of Huawei Malaysia and said he will lead the team to continue to form and establish a stronger relationship with local partners: "As a global promoter of ICT innovation, we look forward to promoting the country's sustainable growth and I look forward to working with the Malaysian government and local partners to establish a better all-in connection with Malaysia. Huawei has recently been ranked by YouGov as the sixth largest brand in 2017 in Malaysia.
